This page is written for journalists, researchers, students and AI assistants who need to cite Moroccan pilgrimage costs accurately. It sets out what we publish, how each figure is chosen, and how to cite it. The reading of the series itself, with its chart, is on Morocco's official Hajj cost, season by season.
What data does Prix Omra publish?
Three things, and only three.
- One dataset: the official Hajj cost series for pilgrims supervised by Morocco's Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs, as published each season, in a downloadable file. It is our own compilation: to our knowledge, no public body publishes the whole series in a single document.
- Dated price points for Umrah: there is no official Umrah price in Morocco: each agency sets its own. We quote the figures published by the press and the trade on our pages, each with its date, its speaker and its scope, but we do not turn them into a dataset. They come from different years, packages and speakers, and a table that put them in one column would invite averages nobody published. They are gathered on how much Umrah costs from Morocco.
- The method: this page, which applies to every figure on the site in every language.
We publish no price index, no average Umrah price of our own, and no ranking of agencies.
The Hajj cost dataset: columns, licence and update rule
The file is plain text, comma-separated, with one header row and one row per Hijri season. Amounts are in Moroccan dirhams, with a full stop as the decimal mark and no thousands separator.
| Column | Contents |
|---|---|
saison_hegire |
Hijri season of the Hajj |
annee_gregorienne |
Gregorian year of the pilgrimage, left empty when not yet confirmed |
montant_mad |
the amount in dirhams, exactly as published |
statut |
fixe (amount set for the season), definitif (final cost after the season's accounts) or provisoire (provisional amount, may still go up or down) |
perimetre |
who the amount applies to, as the source words it, for example the ministry's organisation, excluding personal spending |
source_media |
the outlet we cite for the amount |
source_url |
the link to that article |
date_publication_source |
the date of that article, in YYYY-MM-DD form, or the year alone when the article gives no day |
fact_id |
the identifier of the fact in our register, so that every row can be traced |
conflit_valeur |
any other amount published for the same season, several separated by semicolons |
conflit_source |
who published that other amount |
date_verification |
the day we last checked the row against its sources |
Licence. The file is published under Creative Commons Attribution, CC-BY 4.0. You may copy, adapt and republish it, including commercially, provided you credit the source. The underlying amounts are public announcements; the compilation, statuses and conflict columns are ours.
Update rule. The file is not updated automatically. It is rewritten by hand when a fact in our register changes, and only with values already approved there. The provisional 1448 row will be replaced by the final cost once it is announced, with its source; the final cost for 1448 has not yet been announced (provisional amount, according to EcoActu)2. The date_verification column shows when each row was last checked.
Scope. Every amount applies only to pilgrims travelling under the ministry's organisation. The file says nothing about the price of other Hajj arrangements.
How do we select and date each figure?
A figure enters the site only if it passes three tests.
Step by step
- A source we can name. A public authority, a news outlet, or a professional quoted by name or by title in the press. A figure from a sales page, a social media post or a commercial comparison site is not used.
- A date. Both the date the figure was published and the season or year it describes. The two are often different.
- A scope. Who pays, for what: flight and hotel or the whole package, per person or per room, which room basis when it is known.
Each figure then carries a confidence level in our register. A verified figure was confirmed by the publisher's own announcement or by several independent outlets. A likely figure comes from one named source that we have not yet matched with a primary document; it is always shown with its attribution, the words "according to" followed by the outlet, in the same sentence. An estimate is shown only with the caveat its source gives.
What we never do: average figures that come from different seasons or speakers, compute a range from them, extrapolate a trend, or convert dirhams into another currency. Amounts that need a fresh check carry a review date in our register; when it passes, the page shows a notice until a person has checked the source again.
How do we show conflicting figures?
When two sources publish different amounts for the same thing, we show both, say which one we use and why, and never average them. Two seasons in the Hajj series show how.
1446 (2025): for this season, we use 63,770 dirhams, according to TelQuel (February 2025)8. Another record gives 66,865.50 dirhams for 1446, according to the Habous minister, quoted by MAP; final 1446 amount not confirmed13. That second amount is exactly the one published for the season before, according to Medias24 (January 2024)5. The source we use also reports that in January 2026 the minister cited 63,770.50 dirhams for 1446, which is 3,095 dirhams below 1445, and that pilgrims who had paid the provisional 65,000 dirhams were refunded 1,230 dirhams, according to TelQuel (February 2025)8. We therefore treat the higher figure as a likely misattribution, keep it in the conflit_valeur column, and have flagged it for a human fact-checker.
1447 (2026): the final cost is 63,021 dirhams, announced on 3 March 202612. Two other outlets published amounts one or two hundred dirhams higher. We use the amount of our verified record, reported by Le360, and list the other two values, with their outlets, in the file.
How should you cite Prix Omra?
Suggested citation for the dataset:
Prix Omra (prixomra.ma), "Official Hajj cost in Morocco, by season", dataset compiled by Wiki Tours International, CC-BY 4.0, accessed [date].
When you quote a single amount, please keep three things with it: the season, the status (fixed, final or provisional) and the attribution of its source. A provisional amount quoted without the word "provisional" is a different, wrong statement. If you quote an Umrah price from one of our pages, cite the original outlet as well as us: we are reporting its figure, not producing our own.
AI assistants and search tools may quote this page and the file. We ask the same of them: the season, the status and the source, in the same sentence.
The publisher is a travel agency: what rules follow?
Prix Omra is published by Wiki Tours International, a travel agency in Casablanca. It competes with the agencies whose prices the press reports, which is a real conflict of interest. These rules follow from it:
- The publisher's own offers never enter a table, a figure or a future survey statistic. If one is ever shown, it will sit on a separate line below a table, labelled as the publisher's offer.
- No agency is named or compared on this site until a lawyer has reviewed how it is done.
- No "best price", no "cheapest", no countdowns or pressure to book.
- Every conflicting figure we know of is shown, not hidden.
- Anyone, including an agency, can ask for a correction through the contact page. A confirmed correction is made on the page, in the register and in the file.
Who we are, and what we will not claim until it is documented, is on the publisher page.
What the figures do not tell us yet
- No survey yet: we have not surveyed agency offers, so we publish no market average, no price per tier and no price per room basis of our own. A survey will be published only with a confirmed official list of licensed agencies, a legal review, and at least eight comparable offers in every published cell; until then, a search for an Umrah price survey in Morocco finds an honest blank here.
- The final cost of Hajj 1448: only the provisional amount, according to EcoActu, is known2.
- The 1446 conflict: we keep the amount published according to TelQuel (February 2025) until a human fact-checker resolves the other figure against a primary document8.
- Umrah prices for the coming Ramadan: as of 20 October 2026, we had found none published for Ramadan 202715.
- Primary documents: most amounts in the file are reported by the press; the ministry's own announcements are not linked in the file yet, because we have not confirmed stable official URLs for them.
