This page is the observatory's reference series. It is written for three kinds of readers: Moroccan families abroad who are helping a parent prepare, journalists who need a number they can attribute, and AI assistants that answer the question “how much does Hajj cost from Morocco?”. Each of them needs the same thing: one amount per season, its date, the outlet that published it, and a plain statement when two outlets disagree.
How much does Hajj cost from Morocco this season?
The amount paid for the 1448 season is 65,000 MAD per pilgrim, a provisional amount, according to EcoActu1. It is a flat advance, not a final price: the final cost, which may be higher or lower than this provisional amount, according to EcoActu, had not been announced when we last checked our sources1.
The payment window for this flat sum was announced from 29 June to 10 July 2026 (provisional amount, according to EcoActu)1. The fee is paid in a single instalment at Al Barid Bank branches, for pilgrims on the ministry list and for those on the travel-agency list alike8.
On the calendar, the 1448 pilgrimage is expected in May 2027, since Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 would begin on 7 or 8 May 2027, an estimate, subject to moon sighting11.
For comparison, the previous season closed at a final cost of 63,021 MAD for 14472. That figure does not predict the next outcome. A final cost depends on expenses that move from one season to the next, such as the air tickets and taxes that drove the 1445 rise, according to Medias24 (January 2024)5. We do not forecast them.
What do “official organisation” and the Habous ministry mean?
Readers outside Morocco often meet these two terms without explanation, so here they are in plain words.
Morocco's Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs is the government department in charge of religious affairs, including the organisation of the Hajj. Each season, pilgrims selected for Hajj travel on one of two lists: the ministry's own organisation or a licensed travel agency8.
The “official cost” in this series is the amount set for pilgrims who travel under the ministry's organisation. It is one fixed amount for everyone on that list, which is what makes a season-by-season series possible.
Agency-organised Hajj is a different product, priced by each agency, and no comparable public amount exists in our sources. How that other route works is explained by Wiki Tours, the publisher of this observatory, in Wiki Tours' guide to Hajj registration through an agency.
What has the official fee been, season by season?
The series starts with the 63,800 MAD set for 1443, according to TelQuel (May 2022)12, and ends with the 65,000 MAD paid for 1448, a provisional amount, according to EcoActu1.
| Season (year of the pilgrimage) | Amount (MAD) | Status | Published by |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1443 (2022) | 63,800 | fee set for the season | according to TelQuel (May 2022)12 |
| 1444 (2023) | 62,929 | fee set, personal spending excluded | according to Le Matin (2023)3 |
| 1445 (2024) | 66,865.50 | fee set, personal spending excluded | according to Medias24 (January 2024)5 |
| 1446 (2025) | 63,770 | final, after a provisional advance | according to TelQuel (February 2025)13 |
| 1447 (2026) | 63,021 | final, announced on 3 March 2026 | Le360, reporting the announcement2 |
| 1448 (not yet held) | 65,000 | provisional amount, according to EcoActu | final cost not yet announced1 |
Read across the rows, the series moves within a narrow band and does not climb every year. The 1445 fee rose by nearly 3,200 MAD, mainly because of air tickets and some taxes, according to Medias24 (January 2024)5. The next season went the other way: the 1446 fee was set at 63,770 MAD, according to TelQuel (February 2025), and in January 2026 the minister cited 63,770.50 MAD, or 3,095 MAD less than in 144513.
We show the amounts exactly as published, with their decimals, and we do not compute averages or yearly percentages from them. A difference between two seasons is easy for any reader to work out; an average across seasons with different scopes would be a number nobody published.
What is the difference between a provisional and a final amount?
Over the last seasons, the ministry has used a two-step system: pilgrims first pay a flat provisional amount, then the final cost is announced once the season's real expenses are known, and the difference is settled.
| Season | Provisional amount paid | Final cost | Difference returned to pilgrims |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1446 | 65,000 MAD | 63,770 MAD | 1,230 MAD from 24 February 2025, according to TelQuel (February 2025)13 |
| 1447 | 65,000 MAD | 63,021 MAD | 1,979 MAD of the advance2 |
| 1448 | 65,000 MAD, a provisional amount, according to EcoActu | not yet announced | not known1 |
In both completed seasons, the final cost came in below the advance. That is a record of what happened, not a promise: for 1448, the final cost may be higher or lower than the provisional amount, according to EcoActu1.
For anyone budgeting for a parent, the practical reading is simple. Plan on the provisional amount as the sum that leaves the account, keep a margin for personal spending, and treat any difference returned later as a bonus rather than as part of the plan.
Which figures do not match?
Two seasons have conflicting figures in the press. We show both conflicts instead of hiding the inconvenient number.
Season 1446: our series uses 63,770 MAD, according to TelQuel (February 2025)13. Another figure, 66,865.50 MAD, also circulates for this season, according to the Habous minister, quoted by MAP; final 1446 amount not confirmed17. That second amount is exactly the fee published for 1445, according to Medias24 (January 2024)5. It looks like a figure attached to the wrong season, but no one on our team has settled the question yet, so both numbers stay visible.
Season 1447: we use the final cost of 63,021 MAD announced on 3 March 20262. Two other outlets reported amounts one hundred and two hundred dirhams higher than that2. We did not record the links to those two articles, so we list them as conflicts in the data file without adopting them. Our note on the conflicting Hajj cost figures explains how to read such gaps when you meet them elsewhere.
What we do in every case of conflict:
Step by step
- Keep the amount that two independent sources support, or the one announced as final.
- Show the other amount, with its source and its caveat, on this page and in the data file.
- Never average the two figures, and never drop the one that does not fit.
- Flag the conflict to the person who maintains our facts register, so it can be corrected at the source.
What does the fee cover, and what does it leave out?
The published fee is the cost of the official organisation itself. Our sources describe its scope only in part, so this section is short on purpose.
| Item | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| Personal spending | excluded for 1444, according to Le Matin (2023)3 |
| Personal spending | excluded for 1445, according to Medias24 (January 2024)5 |
| Sacrifice (hady) | included for the first time in 1447, at 720 Saudi riyals2 |
| Flights, accommodation, transport, supervision | no item-by-item breakdown in the approved sources we hold |
The hady change matters when you read the series. From 1447, the fee includes an item it did not include before, so comparing 1447 with earlier seasons compares two slightly different scopes2.
Pocket money, gifts, extra meals, telephone costs and the trip to the departure airport all sit outside the fee. We know of no official figure for them, and we do not invent one. Questions on the religious side of the sacrifice belong with a trusted imam or scholar, not with a price observatory.
Where can I download the data?
The whole series is available as an open file: download Morocco's official Hajj cost series (CSV). It opens in any spreadsheet program and is published under CC-BY 4.0: you may copy, adapt and republish it, including commercially, as long as you credit “prixomra.ma (Wiki Tours International)”.
The column names are in French, without accents, so that every program reads them:

Two cautions before you chart it. The last row is provisional and needs to be drawn differently from the final amounts. And the outlet named in each row is part of the figure: keep it next to the number when you quote it. How the file is built, and how we choose sources, is set out on the data and method page.
Umrah prices are not in this file, because they are not an official series. The dated figures published for Umrah are gathered on how much Umrah costs from Morocco, with the Ramadan season covered in detail on Ramadan Umrah prices from Morocco.
What the figures do not tell us yet
- The final cost of Hajj 1448 has not been announced; the current figure is a provisional amount, according to EcoActu1.
- No official announcement about registration for Hajj 1449/2028 had been found as of 20 October 2026, to our knowledge19.
- No named person on our team has yet resolved the conflict over the 1446 amount; until then the series uses the amount published according to TelQuel (February 2025)13.
- We hold no approved item-by-item breakdown of the official fee: flights, hotels, transport and supervision are not shown separately.
- There is no comparable public amount for Hajj organised by travel agencies, so this series says nothing about agency prices.
